Case #1: Daredevil Disaster |

Case starts with Grissom, introducing you to the CSI crew [get a video here].
You then meet Catherine Willows and get to hear her welcoming welcome .
The Case is introduced and you have the choice to either start at St. Anthony's Hospital and talk to the victim, Ace Dillinger, or go to the accident scene at the Mediterranean Casino backlot. I have done both choices and the choice you make first doesn't effect solving the case.
CASINO
Talk to David McLadden, the stunt director about what happened. [You will get the location of his trailer, but you can't go in it yet].
Look around the scene...
1. look at the skid marks on the ground [no treads to pick up here]
2. look at the ramp.... TWICE!!
THE FIRST TIME YOU TRY TO LOOK AT THE THREAD MARKS ON THE RAMP, YOU GET A RECREATION VIDEO [automatically triggered].
Then, BE SURE TO LOOK AGAIN CLOSER a SECOND TIME directly at tracks on ramp!!! This is to "check" to see if what was supposed to happen in the stunt [the video] really happened. If you don't look at the treads the second time, you will find yourself stuck later on [no treads to pick up here]
3. look at oil slick under truck. Swab for sample.
4. Look at Bike...
a) look at yellow substance. Swab for sample.
b) look at area near handlebars. Pick up sticker [with gloves or tweezers].
c) look at front tire. Take tread with adhesive lifter.
d) look at "engine area" - get video.
Close up on throttle cable- Swab sample.
Carburator- zoom in on spring/coil. Pick up spring with gloves
Upper area of engine [above the spring area]- dust for a print.
5. Look at the dust heap.
Then, make sure to Go talk to David again, so to not miss and questions.
Go To ST. ANTHONY's HOSPITAL and talk to Ace. [if you went to hospital first, Ace will also tell you about David's trailer, but you can't go in it yet either.]
Go to the LAB, and give everything to Greg. Search for the print if you want.
Visit BRASS.
-Ask for Draffler Office address [triggers new location].
-Can also ask for Vegas Motorcycle address.
... You can either go the DRAFFLER or VEGAS first.
Go to DRAFFLER OFFICE. Talk to Cory Muzotti, producer of the show.
Collect evidence around office [can't search the desk yet]:
a) stain on wall near water cooler. Swab for sample.
b) door knob- dust for print.
I usually then go to VEGAS MOTORCYCLE to get evidence, but you can also go back to the LAB and get Greg to look at the evidence you just picked up.
At VEGAS MOTORCYCLE...
Talk to Leslie Handleman inside.
She lets you look around, but not on her desk area yet.
a) look at display case- dust for print on glass.
b) outside, look at dusty tread print. Electrostatic lift tread print.
LAB- Give all evidence to Greg.
COMPUTER...
1) compare bike treads from shop and bike
2) search display case print- view Cory's Rap Sheet
3) Compare display print to print on engine and door. [Compare engine and door print if you haven't already.]
Now go around asking questions...
Question Ace at hospital about Vegas cycle shop.
Question Leslie about Ace's recent visit to her shop.
You now should be able to Go to BRASS and ask for a warrant for David McLadden's trailer.
Go to TRAILER, go inside.
Collect Evidence...
1) view broom. nothing to collect, but you need to view it to confirm he cleaned up.
2) view dust pan. Pick up spring part.
3) Look in garbage can. Pick up smashed tape.
4) look at Coffee cup. Use Magnetic print lifter to get print. Pick up cup.
5) look at clippers in drawer. pick up clippers.
Go to LAB, give all evidence to Greg, etc. Things to do there...
a) Put spring pieces together [double click on large piece to get it in an information window like pop up, then click-drag smaller piece onto it.] Zoom in on joint, you can use the microscopy tool [the hand tool, not the microscope].
b) Give spring to Greg. Give Clippers to Greg to see if they match the cut.
You can also test the tool yourself- bring up the put-together-spring in an info window by double clicking. Then single click and drag the tool onto the break point on the spring. It will take patience and luck to get it in the right spot, so keep trying even if nothing happens... you'll get it eventually ]
c) Look at photos from video in microscope, especially number 4. [Get a recreation video]
If nothing happens when you look at photo 4, ie. Catherine keeps saying she would like to see a photo with a clear shot, go back to the CASINO and look at the ramp treads and the treads in between the cones. Also look at the oil slick under the semi truck. Then come back and look at the photo under the microscope again.
d) Compare prints on the COMPUTER- compare coffee print to engine and door prints.
Once you have confirmed the coffee samples and prints on engine, door and cup match, you can Ask Brass to Interrogate David McLadden.
After interrogating David, go back to BRASS and ask to get a warrant to search Draffler office [desk area].
Go to DRAFFLER OFFICE. Talk to Cory.
a) pick up TV Network Memo on desk
b) look at emails on computer. Get copy of encrypted message on disk automatically.
Go to LAB, give disk to Greg to put in computer.
SEARCH message in computer.
Go ask some questions...
Go ask Cory why he sent message to Leslie.
Go ask Leslie about knowing people on the show.
Go ask Brass for warrant to search Vegas Motorcycle.
GO TO MOTORCYCLE, talk to Leslie. Search behind desk area...
a) Right bookcase- see Komawa tool. Dust for print, pick up with gloves.
b) left counter shelf- pick up lottery ticket. look at envelope with money. Ninhydrin print on envelope and pick up envelope.
c) Metal Cabinets- look at receiptson Ace's bike, pick them up.
d) look on Computer- see message from Cory Muzzotti.
Go question Ace about getting free lube jobs. [Keep your brain out of the gutter, please]
To to LAB, give all new evidence to Greg.
ON COMPUTER...
a) search print on envelope, compare to display case print.
b) compare print on Komawa to display case, and door, engine, etc. prints.
c) give Komawa to Greg [if haven't already].
Zoom in on Spring in the information window, click and drag the Komawa to the break point to see if Komawa matches the cut.
Go ask Cory about the money.
Ask Brass to interrogate Leslie Handleman.
You get Leslie's prints, and go to LAB to confirm prints on computer: Komawa print and Leslie's prints. [after giving to Greg].
... if you do not get her prints, you have missed something... most likely evidence at Vegas cycle or matching the Komawa tool to the spring.
Interrogate Leslie again.
Ask Brass to interrogate Cory.
[if you haven't interrogated David yet, you have to do that first].
Yay! Case 1 is done
Get Congrats from Grissom, and do the observation test. Since there are many questions you can get and they seem random, check out the forum for possible questions and answers.
