CSI: NY... Coming this fall

Check out the press release announcing the new CSI: NY game! (link and copy below)

CSI: NY Announcement (Sept 4, 2008)

Not mentioned in the release, is that the game is apparently being developed by Legacy interactive and not Telltale games... who have held the Vegas license since 2005 (it is unknown if they still have the rights or not)

Anyways, what do you guys think of this news? (personally, I'm ecstatic, as i have been wanting a CSI: NY game for years...)

Game Based on Hit Television Series to Be Released Holiday 2008

SAN FRANCISCO – September 4, 2008 – Today Ubisoft and CBS Consumer Products announced the all-new video game CSI: NY. For the first time in the CSI video game series, CSI: NY will allow you to play as actual characters from the hit TV show. The video game features five new original cases crafted by writers from the CSI: NY television series and will launch for the PC in time for the 2008 holiday season.

“We are thrilled to offer fans a new type of crime-solving experience with CSI: NY,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Ubisoft. “With an all-new graphic novel art style, improved player controls and added interactive gameplay, CSI: NY will provide a more accessible approach for fans looking to immerse themselves in the show’s universe.”

“We are excited to be partnering with Ubisoft again on the next iteration in the successful CSI video game series,” said Liz Kalodner, executive vice president and general manager of CBS Consumer Products. “With CSI: NY’s engaging storylines, compelling characters and unique visual style, it is a natural progression to extend the experience into a video game that effectively brings the show to life.”

CSI: NY averages 11.8 million total viewers each week on CBS. Ubisoft’s CSI video game franchise has sold more than 3.5 million units worldwide since the first CSI title was released in 2003.

Game features include:

* SOLVE CRIMES IN THE BIG APPLE - Finally, CSI fans can experience the environment, characters and mysteries of CSI: NY. Piece together clues and uncover hidden evidence in the biggest city in America. Explore five brand-new, bizarre crimes and bring suspects to justice.

* PLAY AS THE STARS - For the first time, take on the role of CSI stars as you play the characters of Detective Mac Taylor and Stella Bonasera.

* MORE ACCESSIBLE GAMEPLAY - A new, moody graphic novel art style and enhanced, user-friendly interface will assure accessibility and hours of replay for all types of gamers. Improved gameplay includes new mechanics for conversations, computer use, blood work and much more.

* CONTROL INTERROGATIONS – For the first time, players can control interrogations and use evidence to reveal a suspect’s lies. Take part in dramatic interrogations and create atmospheric reenactments while exploring grisly crime scenes inspired by the show.

* DIG DEEPER WITH NEW MINI GAMES - Includes an incredible variety of new mini-games, such as: code breaking, facial reconstruction, triangulating shooter locations, physics simulation reconstructions, Internet searching and more!

Well... it's due sometime this "Holiday season", but "Fall" sounds better in a thread title.

P.S. I added some screenshots to the other thread

I think that Legacy Interactive ruined it. The subtitles are definitely not needed. We are definitely not deaf-mutes!

Uh... yeah, um... I'm sure you can turn them off, lol

(And some people might take offense to that quote Poseidon. While i am not mute, i frequently use subtitles in games myself for various reasons.)

It's just that I see no reason for them, DZ. (Sorry for the dry sense of humour, but , no offense was intended.) As for myself, I think they distract from the action, not add to it. What I'd like to know is whose bright idea it was in the first place! I f they ruin the graphics , what good is it?

Subs are useful. I'm sure there will be an option for no subs.

What about the graphics? I can't say I like them...

Kate,
I'm in total agreement with you. The graphics not only insult the characters but also insult our intelligence as well.

Yeah, i commented elsewhere that game game looks really watered down and unrealistic, like it was drawn for the cartoon network

But don't get me wrong, I like the graphic novel art style (thats how the first 3 games were made) but this so called "new style" is too "cartoony" and looks like it is aimed at kids...

Five stories of sin and murder... Aimed at kids *sigh*

Let me tell you, my excitement for a CSI: NY game has really diminished since those shots came out (I almost don't want it to come out, so the license is not disgraced further)

DZ,
If those shots are representative of the kind of games that Legacy Interactive puts out, then...
