A Space Oddity: Opinions?

Being a major STAR TREK fan, I was SO jazzed to see it get roasted CSI-style with the recent episode A SPACE ODDITY.

It's cool enough that former TREK guest stars Wallace Langham and Liz Vassey are regulars on the show, and that Naren Shankar (former TNG writer/producer) works on it as well. But when former TREK producer Ronald D. Moore and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA actors Grace Park and Rekha Sharma start shouting "This sucks!" when the "new" Astro Quest is shown, it absolutely floored me. (BTW, another BSG actor, Kate Vernon, played Dr. Penelope Russell in this episode.)

But the absolute BEST part of the show was where Wally and Liz start re-enacting key scenes from the "original" Astro Quest (which were CLEARLY ripped straight from TOS, especially THE GAMESTERS OF TRISKELLION). It reminded me how the show can get overly silly at times, but not lose it's core messages. Definitely a standout episode in what was considered by most a "shake-up season" of CSI.
