Talking 2006 Season Thoughts! - Las Vegas

Well, what did every one think of the premiere? [Thought I might has well try to get the ball rolling!]

As for premieres, I thought it was a so-so start... the cirque case was cop out cases in my opinion- not really exciting beginning to a year, but rather a short story that would be the "second" case in a mid-season episode. It seemed the case at the cirque show was supposed to be the headlining case so to speak, and it seemed to go either way to slowly to be in any way exciting or way to quickly- the ending was of no real surprise [I'm trying not to spoil it for anyone who has not seen the episode yet], and my brother was thinking that the only reason why they started the season with the case was because they felt having cirque du soleil "involved" would make it special. The case could have happened anywhere as far as I'm concerned, not just at a cirque show. And frankily Quidam and Varekai are better shows than Ka in my opinion anyway

For case #2, it was a little bit better in terms of story in comparison to the cirque case, a good amount of twist, but it too seemed to go a little too slowly- it was as if the two cases were battling it out for which case was the headliner in the episode, and neither seemed to peak at the right time. Once Sara saw the oven mitt in the box, the case went into ho-hum rhythm.

I did like how Grissom got Sara the veggie burger though- it doesn't seem as if anyone has figured out what is going on with Grissom and Sara [I'm still getting unsettling vibes from that though- so it's almost a good thing that these CSIs don't seem to see everything that is in front of them]. Grissom looks better clean shaven though- you'd think that would tip people off! Watch annoying lab tech creep figure it out first!

Catherine and Nick are starting to worry me !

Anyways, the ending of the episode was WAY better and I felt that the entire episode would have been better if they opened with that instead. Poor Catherine seems to be the victim this year around- and deciding to collect the evidence herself probably wasn't a good idea! [sorry had to spoil a little there].

The case that Grissom is working on sounds good though... I sense a new villian to loathe!

Add your thoughts... oh and if you want to spoil the episode, feel free- all future thread readers have been warned....

Wasn't the second case already "forecasted" in the coming attractions to last-year's season -ender?

I think it was- hence I was expecting it to play a bigger part of the episode- the next one should be good though... they seem to have decided to "borrow" from the LOST idea- taunt the viewers with something by creating more questions.

hi all, well i also thought the episode left something to be desired..........but any tv show is always rough around the edges at the start of a season. but the episode was intresting in how they made you over think the cases.............in both cases you were led to believe that they were both murders, but the first was really an accident, and the second was actually a suicide...........well written.

and the reason that you believe that the end of the episode was better than the rest...................because they left you hanging.

but i do not want to dis next weeks episode at all.............i was fortunate to get a sneek peek of all 5 episodes that have been filmed to date (including the season premere before it aired) and i must say that it is much better and the premere detracts from the episode.................here are some highlights WARNING SPOILERS

well............there is my 2 cents about the season opener

I think I didn't really like the first two cases in the season opener because I had them figured out after 30 minutes- usually Vegas keeps me in suspense until at least the 45 minute mark before it dawns on me- which is good because Miami sometimes doesn't make it to the 15 minute mark !... All the shows on TV are starting to get predictable- I even had the premiere of House figured out rather quickly- though today's was a surprise... if you like more of the medical mystery kinda of show, you can check House out if you aren't watching it already.

next weeks episode is a good one as well...............the story Comes straight from the perspectives of five people: Donna, Rebecca, Jack, Lou and Ray. All with one thing in common. They’re all dead. Brass and Catherine get to handle the case of Donna, who’s a former cop and now works as a bodyguard. Warrick and Sofia work the case of Rebecca, who’s a former supermodel who died while hiking with her new husband Gavin. Nick and Greg handle the case of Jack, a returning veteran from Iraq, who was killed in front of his wife and baby daughter who he just met for the first time. Grissom and Sara take the case of Lou and Ray whose bodies were found in Lou’s garage...............sliced to peices with a chainsaw

Lots of dead bodies in that one- that's for sure!

Might as well add my loooonnnnnggg list of TV shows to the mix... [All I can say is hooray for digital cable and eastern feeds; it's the only way I can watch all I want to ]. These are the ones I make time for- there are a few sitcoms and random Food Network [eg. if Gordon Ramsey is on it, or something is being demolished; including giant desserts] and Discovery Channel shows that will also get my attention [Mythbusters, etc.]

the 3 CSIs
ER [I'm loyal]
House [I'm loyal to Hugh Laurie ]
Stargate Sg-1 and Stargate Atlantis [I'm a loyal Vancouverite, and SF fan]
Lost
24 [Kiefer's in it after all...]
Boston Legal [Spader + Shatner, duh!]
The Amazing Race
America's Next Top Model [I am female after all...]
Desperate Housewives [see reason above]
Grey's Anatomy [see reason above again]
Survivor [yes I'm a sucker]
Rick Mercer Report and This Hour has 22 Minutes [Canadian Content]
probably the Apprentice even though I wish I wouldn't]
Passions [yah yeah... laugh at me now- I know I shouldn't]
the disasters otherwise known as Pop Idol/American Idol/Canadian Idols [but no ripoffs other than Rock Star]
and apparently What About Brian is returning??? [see a reason a few spaces above]

New Shows this year: [hope they last]
Eureka [Vancouver loyalty again- and it's a good show!]
Jericho
Ugly Betty
6 Degrees [JJ Abrams loyalty]
Justice [only because Victor Garber is on it]
Smith
Shark
... I'm hoping to add Dexter to this list

......... and there's probably things I've missed!... Perhaps I'll actually watch Dr. Who this year...

The premise to Jericho is very interesting, Kay.
