Daft Question???

Hi guys, ive read all the threads, and its all a bit mixed and matched, and I dont know very much about games so, just to make it simple for me.
Could someone please explain, how you put the two pieces of spring together???
Im playing it on the xbox, I believe I have all the other evidence, I think thats just the one thing im missing that is stopping me from completing the case.
