TDOM General Talk Thread Part 2

====================================
Before this thread continues away, I'm just interrupting Dangerzone's post to explain this thread- this is the second of two CSI: Three Dimensions of Murder General Talk threads.

This is a continuation of the lively discussions from Part one http://www.csigame.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1425

I have copied over some of the info-packed posts from the first forum, so posters can respond to them. Have fun gawking and gabbing!
K
The thread-splitting mod

====================================

many of the other threads here were limited to one topic
( website delay, game format, the missing cases, )
so, i figured i would make one for general conversation and information on the game

the other topics are highly specific discussions and i want this to become the main topic on the new game and have the other five topics be side discussions.

P.S. the five other topics are a single string and should be read in order
(they make more sence when read in order)

first is
Dimensions of Murder game early NEWS RELEASES (may have old information now)
(this was the topic where i broke the news that a new game was on the way)
------------
second is
do you want the new csi game to be on cd or dvd PART ONE (topic closed due to length, and continued with the topic listed below)
------------
third is
Game Talk: Thoughts on Game cases & how/why some cases are removed from the games
(this topic requires the reading of the second topic to understand what we are talking about in the begining of the topic)

the other topics are seperate topics and do not require the reading of another topic to understand the topic at hand

oh yeah, ubisoft released 2 screenshots of the game today

enjoy

the characters a a "painted" look to them as if they were a cartoon
but yet they still have that rendered 3d appearnce

its not the style we are used to in these games
but i like it though

here is some more info on the game
taken from the games preorder page HERE

Quote:
Join the famous CSI team in Las Vegas and investigate five all-new cases using the latest forensic science. Work along side Grissom, Katherine, and the entire cast as you utilize the latest crime-solving equipment. To discover the truth behind the crimes, you must visit the scene, interview suspects, and collect and analyze physical evidence. Use puzzle-solving and interrogation skills to establish a relationship between the suspect, the victim, and the crime scene. Only then will you be able to make an arrest and resolve the case.

Game Features:

NEW 3D graphics:
Investigate crime scenes that are more like the hit TV show than ever. Move around and get a close-up look. Feel like you are really using the tools for collection and detection of evidence and interact with the CSI cast like never before.

5 NEW cases with deeper plot lines with shocking twists:
Players will be drawn into the action with improved character interaction and longer, more immersive cases. The five new and distinctive cases will draw players in like never before.

NEW Mobile Crime Lab:
Just like the hit TV show, CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder features the GMC Mobile Analysis Unit, which can be used to analyze evidence quickly in the field.

NEW, more satisfying evidence analysis:
Players will really feel like they are solving the case, instead of the computer. Use high-tech tools to collect and process evidence, such as Mikrosil™ casting material, magnetic powder for enhanced fingerprint analysis, and Luminol for detecting traces of blood evidence.

Original CSI series is the #1 hit TV show:
CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder returns to the original Vegas-based series. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation remains the top show on TV with 26M weekly viewers.
EDIT: read the second line they spelled "catherine" incorrect......
P.S. can anyone who views this post add to my reputation by clicking on the justice scale icon in the top right corner of the post

EDIT: #2
I have found another old low res render (like the old screenshots)

MY CONTACT JUST SENT ME AN EMAIL WITH SOME MORE SCREENSHOTS -THESE ONES ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE LAST ONES
THE SCREENSHOTS BELOW REFLECT THE FINAL APPEARNCE OF THE GAME

here they are, i hope you are ready for these

they are so awesome, i had to hide them and mess with you people

I also used my reformatting program on them and made all 3 of them sutable to be posted as wallpaper - enjoy
(wich explains the black bars at the top and bottom of the first picture)

He also sent the interior case boxart

NOW I AM IMPRESSED WITH THIS GAME

i am on the edge of an orgasm just looking at those pictures, I WANT THIS GAME
--------
he also sent some more general info on the game

the game is on dvd only, so......sorry poseidon no more cd version

he also sent me the MINIMUM system requirements, and if everyone here is groveling over it being on dvd, you are in trouble

because you need a highend pc intended for gaming to make this game work properly

i am sure it will work on a standard computer, but to get the full effect a gaming pc is necessary

on a normal computer it will run slow and the animations will be low quality
and since it is 3d, everything in the game that moves is classified as an animation

my computer is nice and new, so it will be able to handle the game
(yes, i am bragging and rubbing it in your face)

BUT, i am still waiting for it to come out on a console, because my entertainment center is much better than my computer

Although, i will get the pc version just for the sake of writing a walkthrough

EDIT: i moved the other (older) screenshot the the first page with the other old screenshots

i may be wrong, but i think i know the five crimes in the cases of the game, and who is on each case
(these are educated guesses from the screenshots and from news on the grape vine)

i have also noticed that each case has more than one character in it, which is a welcome change

-home robbery, vic was stabbed
(recent screenshot i added to the first page with greg and grissom)

greg, grissom

-roadside body dump and vics head was bashed in
(this was the first screenshot released with cathrene and brass, they did not show the head for a reason)

cathrene, nick, sara

- dead video game efficenado (no screenshots yet)
greg, cathrene, sara, nick

-gunshot victim in alley
(the 3 new screenshots are from this case)

grissom, nick, warrick

-i am not going to spoil the fifth case (no screenshots yet)
(you have to play the game and find out for yourself)
(i will give you a hint and say that it has something to do with electricity)

cathrene, eckile, grissom, sara, nick, warrick, greg (all characters involved)

there are also the seperate labs for the diffrent departments at the csi lab, there are quite a few of the lab techs in the game that are in the tv show, they include - bobby dawson, archie, hodges, Professor rambar(the question documents parson), and Wendy Simms (the dna girl)

and of course there is brass, Dr. Robbins, and david phillips

all i can say is that i hope that the last case has nothing to do with suicide as the last 3 games did

i have also noticed that some of the cases may have more than one crime or more than one victim (but i cannot be sure at this time)

and keep in mind that most of these are educated guesses

i will see if i can get more info on the cases before the game is released

i have some bad news
the release date will not be the 7th after all
i just checked my mail for my weekly invetory sheets and the game is not being shipped for another 2 weeks

the new release date is Tuesday, March 14th

i went online today and i noticed that a lot of places are changing their release date to the 14th, the links to all of the sales pages are below

ubisoft says some time in march Ubisoft

GameStop (me) still says march 7th Game Stop

GameSpot says the 7th GameSpot
(they also have the 14th listed on the search page HERE you have to scroll down a bit)

Amazon says march 14th Amazon

EB Games says march 14th EB Games

Walmart says march 14th Walmart

IGN (insider gaming network) says Q1 (which is january through march)
IGN

i have not talked to my friend since i got those screenshots so, i have no official comment from my source on this yet, but i will see if i can get an explaination

and, i welcome the extra week delay because it gives me time to get my new computer together
so, i now have 17 days to do the impossible

i heard a funny rumor today

from what i read, dominac petrenko will be in this game as well
he was in both of the original csi games

he was in case 4 in the first csi game as the animal trainer
and he was in csi: dm in case 5 as the black market animal dealer

this reminds me of "the plummer" in the ratchet and clank games

there are 4 games and he was in the original 3 games, although he was not in the 4th game he was mentioned in the credits - they said he will be back in the next game

i have the ign news page url, but you have to be a menber to view it
(and you have to get their magizne and pay to become a mmber)

and i also hear that david phillips is in the game as well

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game. Additional chipsets may be supported after release.
--------------
and i am getting signs that the game may be released on march 7th after all

because game spot changed their date back to march 7th
and my stock sheet shows a possible shipment of games on the 7th

but i am confused, wether it is the 7th or the 14th
i guess we will learn on the 7th

but another explaination is that some places take a week to ship out the games
we just have to keep an eye open, but in the meantime i am going to change my countdown to 7 days to show a release date of march 7th, but it may still be the 14th

someone who worked on the game made a recent post on the tell tale games forum

the actual thread is HERE

Quote:
Hello Telltale & CSI fans -

My name is Greg, and I am the writer & designer for CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder.

Standby for the Official CSI Thread coming soon on the forums!

These shots all used our actual 3D models, and were assembled in Maya/Photoshop by the Ubisoft marketing team. While the shots are not directly captured from the game, rest assured the characters & environments look as good or better in our real-time 3D engine.

We did a lot to make the player feel like they're in the show. We bring you right up close and personal with these characters - and their detail is amazing. Plus, just wait til you see them moving & talking, with moody real-time lighting and TV-like camera cuts...

PS - For all you forensic experts out there - I bet you noticed something "unusual" in the picture of the phone... NOTE: We handle this differently in the actual game!

i have been chating with one of the games creators on the tell tale website

i ased him a few questions and this was his reply

Quote:
CSI:3 will be in CD format, at least for the U.S. launch.

I'm not sure when ubisoft will release the system requirements. I'll see if they will allow us to post them this week. However, it was important to us to be able to include as many fans as possible. We targeted the Sims 2 requirements, so it will be somewhere in the neighborhood of that.

The Grissom & Car screenshot looks like it was made using relatively current models. I'd say within the last month of production.
this is the confirmation we have been looking for
the game will be on cd after all
