it is simple, take your computer to a place like bestbuy (or any electronics store ) and tell them that you want to replace your cd drive with a dvd drive all they do is crack open your computer and replace the drive with one that can read dvds i thought that you already knew that you could upgrade your dvd drive god knows how many times i told you that in the format thread and most dvd drives can also read regular cds as well, but not vice-versa Last edited by Dangerzone; February 28th, 2006 at 03:37 PM. |

I'm thinking of cutting up this thread into smaller chunks- different ideas per thread... what do you all think? eg. a thread about computer requirements, etc. Dangerzone has already done the screenshots thread [thanks!]... any other thoughts? All the threads can be merged back together later- I'm just thinking it's easier for people to comment on posts if the posts about one topic are together in chronological order- if the thread gets too long, it's easy to get confused unless the quote option is used. Just a thought- I'll delete this post later. |

well you do not have to get an entire new computer if your computer has a cd drive then it has all it needs to be equipped with a dvd drive there are 2 cables in the back of the cd drive in your computer one is power the other is for data both drives use these same cables all thay do is un-plug the cd drive, remove the drive then insert a dvd drive and then plug in the drive, with the same cables that the cd drive used it is a simple upgrade, but from the gist of you questions/knolege of computer hardware......i think it is a job best left in the hands of professionals in your case poseidon but it is possible to change the drive and not have to do anything else to the computer and i like your idea kay i will do it myself in a minute |

well yeah but if all that is on your way is your drive, then that is all you should deal with if your computer is less than a few years old, it may pay more to just get a new drive and leave the computer itself alone but i am a egomaniac and i like to have a fast computer that i will probably never use the full power of and i love to taunt people and say "my computer is better than yours" (in a childish singsong voice) |
