Was Adam Kilborn trying to set John Montanna up when he traded him the trailer?

How did Montanna's watch end up in that box of stuff with the bat?

No, I don't think that the archeaeologist was set up. As a matter of fact , he was a trifle embarrassed. As for the watch, it wasn't the archeaeologist's---it was the con man's.
