Turns out that Jake, when he was in Iraq, has a lot of guilt about having killed a little girl .Also, he and a couple of friends of his were ran off the road by men who turn out to be looters. Hawkins has something which someone wants and will stop at nothing to get it...which includes killing his immediate family. (Sounds very much like a Company plot to me , no?)

My first impression was that Hawkins has one of the "football" copies- the book with the codes to the US nuclear weapons, or something like that. Alas, they did that story on 24 in season 2. I'm still waiting for Robin to try to double cross him- we know she will, but I have a feeling that Hawkins knows this. [On another note, the actress that is playing Robin is also the fill in actress on my guilty-pleasure soap opera (Passions- it's so stupid), and the character she plays on that show is "evil-but-innocent-looking" too. She's good at that.]

I'm amazed that Jake didn't break any of his legs- guess it's one of the perks Skeet has in his contract being the "number one" star .

And is the true nature of Hawkins' bosses? And the mystery woman with whom he worked, what is she really? Assassin?? Because, if you recall, when Hawkins and she were checking on the operatives status , it showed that many had been terminated.

Update on Jericho: Hawkins killed his colleague and buried her in the yard(the "compost" heap) ; his wife having left him for good beforehand. Also, Kenchy was called in by Jake to perform a heroic surgery, but when Kenchy saw the conditions in which he had to work...said he wasn't going to be a butcher!

You made an error dear friend I believe: Hawkin's daughter killed Robin (aka the evil one who was not only going to use Hawkins, but killed her own supposed "boss" and had absolutely no problem in threatening to kill Hawkin's kids too).

Fortunately for Hawkins, the Jericho police aren't too smart and their off his trail... for now.

So sad that what's-his-name (mayor's-other-son-than-Jake)'s wife [EDIT: April {I remembered another characters name- yay me!}] and child died. Now he and his girlfriend-bartender can feel even more guilty.

Non plot-related comment...

Does it mean anything if I can't remember any of the character's names other than Jake and Hawkins? I'm a teacher, so I'm good with remembering names, but so far with this show, I'm not really connecting with any of the characters. I know Hawkin's name because so many people on the net are hypothesizing about who he really is, and I know Jake because Skeet is supposed to be the "star" of the show and all the other characters say his name every 5 seconds, so there's no way anyone watching could forget it...

Next season's prospects for this show don't look good if no one can remember any of the characters names!

PS: can anyone remind me what happened to the blatantly-fake-marines? Guess I fell asleep during the episode a few weeks ago!

You've caught me dead to rights. Guilty...of forgetfulness! As for the blatantly-false marines , they were found out, exposed and kicked out of town by the ex-mayor , his wife and son , Jake.


BTW: If you've missed any of the episodes, I'd go the cbs site and go the Innertube section. That way, u can see whole episodes.

Thanks- I was just wondering how they kicked out the marines- after all the marines did have a tank. [which was suspicious in itself!]


Unfortunately since I live in Canada, I can't see the episodes on the web. US sites block international viewers and Canadian sites do not have the rights to show whole episodes yet. We can watch Survivor though as Mark Burnett has given it to Canada to show, but Jericho is not on the "okay" list yet.

Canada-- The only country whose supreme law, the Constitution of Canada, is an amalgam of codified acts and uncodified traditions and conventions. (source:Wikipedia) But aside from my pet peeve!


Jake's father was in the military , as I recall. He used to be with the Arrmy Rangers and, because of that, would know a number of facts concerning the Marine Corps ;the most important of which is that they are all about detail. The group that overran Jericho had a lot of explosives but were nothing but a group of highly-organized, militarized thugs. (They killed a starving person)

The actual problem is that US stations and production companies will not release their shows for Canadian websites to stream. They will allow TV channels to show their shows, but the internet is off limits. So it really is nothing to do with Canadian law, it's more on the US side and the advertisizing/revenues bit.

The Marines were obviously fake- they didn't talk like Marines, nor ride in like Marines do. They certainly didn't act like one would expect Marines to act. I was glad that Jake's dad [ex.mayor] noticed what was wrong in time- great new mayor though... he seems real smart !

If the present mayor is so smart, then why is he in cahoots with the terrorists to begin with ? That strikes me as hardly being smart. (Kay, I think you and I are saying the same thing. I was forgetting what I learned from Goya.)
