Found Evidence- getting the trace evidence after item picked up

What I Want To Know Is If You Can Use Tools To Detect More Evidence On Stuff You Already Found?
I Already Have The Newspaper Article And Found The Finger Prints But Never Found The Word Champagne For The Hotel Case So Can I Still Do That?

If you have the newest version of the game, you can- double click on the piece of evidence twice to bring up the info window and then use the tools on it. Unfortunately the older version of the game [including my own, sad to say] did not let you do this and I had to start over if I missed something. They remedied this in the next games, thank goodness! Hope you can get the trace evidence without having to start it over!
