Actually if you listen to Warick he says that the Elephant is about as much help as his handler. At first I thought great the handler must have saw something... but no they are both just window dressing, interesting to look at but of little or no use.

Actually, the dirt sample you pull off of Sophia's body could be dirt from the elephant's cage but since you can't get into the cage, there is no sample to be obtained, and therefore you are not led on the wrong path. I think that having the arrow turn green is a lame distractor.

The elephant is actually something you do need to look at [nothing to pick up]. If you recall, the sound recording evidence that helped you find the place had an elephant squel in it. Seeing the elephant verifies the place could be the place you are looking for. Sadly the game creators just left it as that instead of making something more interesting out of it.

The first game also has lots of "red herrings" in it as the shows often do. As Gil says, a good CSI looks at all the evidence not just the stuff that gets the "right answer".

Hi

You don't have to make the elephant make a sound- you just have to look at it once. I know that is a gapping hole a good CSI investigator would do, but apparently you don't have to do that in the game. Kuddos for being thorough and open minded!
