| I don't think they can be retrieved, especially if they are corrupted or your computer has rewritten something over them.There are retrieval programs available that retrieve files deleted by accident, however, they are not worth the trouble of installing for most files.
Your only solution is to rebegin, or, if necessary, to re-install the game. There is a possibility that another player with saved game files would e-mail them to you so that you
can save them in the Saved Games Directory, however, those files will not return you to the place you left off
